Vitamin B17- Apricot Seeds

The Ultimate Guide to B17 and its Treatment of Cancer

Vitamin B17, also known as amygdalin or laetrile, is a natural compound derived primarily from apricot kernels and bitter almonds. Historically, cancer patients have turned to amygdalin as an alternative treatment due to its ability to produce a form of cyanide harmful to cancer cells when metabolized by the body.

Its initial successful application dates back to 1845 in Russia and gained broader recognition in the 1950s through the efforts of Dr. Ernst Krebs. Commonly occurring in apricot seeds, apples, plums, cherries, certain nuts like bitter almonds, and select plants, amygdalin serves as the primary element in laetrile therapy. This alternative cancer treatment has attracted attention for its perceived potential advantages.

In the United States, concerns about cyanide poisoning led to the prohibition of vitamin B17 for cancer treatment. Despite this ban, some individuals still incorporate vitamin B17 into their home protocols, obtaining it mainly from seeds of fruits like peaches and bitter almonds.

In alternative healthcare practices, practitioners may administer vitamin B17 orally or intravenously. It’s crucial to highlight that there is no evidence suggesting toxicity from purified amygdalin at therapeutic dosages (2016).

Originally, amygdalin gained popularity as a cancer treatment in the U.S., supported by positive case studies demonstrating its anti-tumor effects. However, in the 1980s, it faced bans in several states, deemed ineffective and potentially toxic.

Recent studies (2019) have reignited interest in vitamin B17, showing promising results. In-vitro studies suggest potential anti-cancer effects, especially in breast, prostate, and oral cancers.

Reports of toxic side effects are associated mainly with oral administration, leading to symptoms resembling cyanide poisoning. However, when administered intravenously, vitamin B17 appears to lack toxicity.

Beyond cancer treatment, vitamin B17 is purported to offer various benefits, such as antioxidant properties, pain relief in inflammatory conditions, immune system enhancement, and blood pressure reduction.

Foods rich in vitamin B17 include apricot kernels, bitter almonds, raw nuts, buckwheat and flaxseeds, and certain vegetables like lima beans, carrots, and bean sprouts.
